Alfonso Barrientez III Al Barrientez acknowledges that he came from humble beginnings in Brownsville, Texas, and is truly experiencing the American dream. Perhaps this is why he has dedicated himself to helping others. “I feel it is my obligation to give back having been so blessed."
Al received his B.B.A. and M.B.A. from UT Austin. An employee of H-E-B for twenty-five years, he now serves as group vice president, U.S. warehouse operations and Mexico supply chain.
Al’s dedication to UTSA, the College of Business and the development of students is commendable. He is a passionate advocate of education, and knows that the experiences of so many UTSA students mirror his own growing up in south Texas. He believes that UTSA is graduating excellent students and that companies should hire them.
Al is married to Blanca Estala and they have three children, Alfonso Julian, Ileana Isabel and Estevan Adrian. He is a member of the UTSA Development Board and an associate member of the UTSA Alumni Association.
